Construction Dispute Resolution

Lungmen Nuclear Power Plant, Taiwan, Project Value: $5B

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR Support) - The project involves a 2,700MW plant consisting of two 1,350MW units at Yenliao, on the north eastern tip of Taiwan, near the capital Taipei. The Advanced Boiling Water Reactor (ABWR) technology marks a departure from Taiwan Power Company (TPC's) three existing nuclear plants, which are smaller units completed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. ABWR is a Generation III reactor based on the boiling water reactor. The standard ABWR plant design has a net output of about 1350 megawatts electrical.

Airports

Construction Dispute Resolution

Central/Artery Tunnel Project - Logan Airport Interchange, Boston, MA, Project Value: $240M

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR Support) - Construction Risk Consultants were retained by the general contractor to perform forensic analysis of all project documentation including: contract documents, correspondence, financial records and schedules.

The contract included construction of at-grade and elevated roadways, bridges, tunnels and boat sections. The project also contained more than a dozen interim staging configurations providing access and egress to and from Logan airport, one of the ten busiest airports nationwide.

Construction Risk Consultants worked closely with the project team and developed all necessary documentation to support the entitlement of a substantial claim for damages caused due to unanticipated ground conditions and other interferences causing major schedule delays.  As the owner failed to respond proactively to requests to extend the contract milestone dates, the general contractor was forced to constructively accelerate the remaining work, resulting in significant additional costs.

Construction Risk Consultants supported the project team, every step of the way, providing additional documentation, as requested by the owner.  The principal successfully negotiated and settled the claim.
